Roti, staple to most Indian homes are also known as Phulka or Chapati. There would not be any single meal without roti in my parent’s home growing up. A must have, in all traditional Indian homecooked meals mostly paired with dal and curry.
Serves : 3-4 People
Cooking time : 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
Kriti Atta -- 3 Cups
Water – 1 to 1.25 cups
Salt – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Method :
Take the atta in a deep bowl, make a well in the centre and start mixing water part by part.
Begin kneading the dough along with adding water in the mix.
Knead till the dough becomes soft.
Make small to medium sized balls of the dough.
Flatten them with flour on the rolling board. Roll it out with a rolling pin.
Put the roti on a hot tawa and let it cook on one side (approx. for a min) and then change the side.
Once it starts to puff, take it off from the tawa and hold it with a tong directly to the fire.
